Carolyn Barker Joins Women's Volleyball for 26-27 ACAA Season
Fredericton, NB - STU Tommies women’s volleyball program is excited to announce the commitment of Carolyn Barker of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, for the upcoming season.
Barker joins the Tommies from the Redmudd Volleyball Club, where she developed into a strong presence at the middle position while also being heavily involved in leadership and extracurricular activities throughout high school.
"Carolyn is a dedicated and hardworking student-athlete who brings a physical presence, competitive drive and eagerness to contribute to our team culture. We are excited to see her continue to develop within our program," said Head Coach Kim Colpitts.
In addition to volleyball, Barker has participated in student council, athletic council, film club, basketball, and track and field. She plans to pursue studies in Communications and Journalism at St. Thomas University.
“I chose St. Thomas for its great resources and opportunities,” said Barker. “It’s not very often you find a smaller university with so many opportunities.”
Barker says the culture surrounding the women’s volleyball program stood out immediately during her recruitment process.
“The STU program seems like the most tight-knit group of girls who enjoy lifting each other up,” she said. “You can really tell they’re all best friends and love supporting each other.”
She also expressed excitement about joining the program under head coach Kim Colpitts.
“It’s clear to anyone who watches the team that Kim lifts the girls up too,” Barker added. “I’m excited to see what she will teach me next year.”
Barker is eager to bring energy and commitment to the Tommies program as she begins her university career.
“I will try to bring enthusiasm, energy, and hard work to the Tommies program to represent them the best way I can.”
The STU Tommies are excited to welcome Carolyn to the Green and Gold for the 2026-27 season.
