STU Women’s Soccer Add Goalkeeper Maëlle Jacques
A native of Newbury, New Hampshire, Jacques joins the Tommies from Kearsarge Regional High School.
Jacques chose STU for its strong sense of community and academic opportunities. “The welcoming environment at STU and amazing internship opportunities presented an environment I really looked forward to becoming a part of,” she said.
Head Coach David Itoafa is excited about what Jacques brings to the program: "Maëlle is a tall goalkeeper who brings great energy to our group and is a pleasure to coach. In her time training with us this winter, she’s proven she has the mindset and drive to elevate our standard and contribute to the culture we’re building.”
Off the field, Jacques plans to pursue a double major in Human Rights and Policy Studies, with aspirations of building a career in the human rights field. She hopes to work within government to help protect the rights of disenfranchised individuals and create meaningful change.
In addition to her commitment to academics and athletics, Jacques enjoys expressing her creativity through watercolor painting and playing the guitar.
Jacques is already embracing the culture within the program and looks forward to contributing to the team’s continued growth. “The women’s soccer program has been everything I could’ve asked for. The coaching staff has been welcoming and excited to get me training in the winter, an opportunity I am extremely grateful for. My new teammates have been welcoming and I have already begun to learn so much.”
With a competitive goalkeeper group already in place, Jacques will enter a strong environment that features four goalkeepers, where she will be expected to compete and earn her role as the program continues to raise its standard.
The STU Tommies Women’s Soccer program continues to add new recruits to strengthen their roster for next season.
