Playmaking Midfielder Olivia Burvill Commits to STU Women’s Soccer
The St. Thomas University Tommies are thrilled to welcome Olivia Burvill to the women’s soccer program for 2026-2027 season.
Burvill, a centre midfielder from Richmond Hill, Ontario, brings a strong soccer IQ, technical quality, and a competitive edge to the Tommies’ midfield. Known for her vision and ability pick apart defenses with her passing, Olivia is composed and creative and is sure to make a big impact.
“Olivia is a smart, passionate player who sees the game well and has the technical quality to unlock space with her passing,” said the coaching staff.
She developed her game at Bill Crothers Secondary School and with the Richmond Hill Soccer Club, where she built a reputation as a reliable and intelligent presence in the middle of the park.
Burvill’s decision to choose St. Thomas University was rooted in the school’s culture and academic environment.
“I chose St. Thomas University because of their community feel and how welcoming the staff are,” she said. “I value how everyone wants you to succeed and are there to help you however they can. The small class sizes allow for more personal connections and a better learning experience. Overall, the smaller size and community feel of St. Thomas is what drew me there.”
Off the field, Olivia plans to study Business and Social Entrepreneurship, with career goals that blend her academic interests and love for sport. She hopes to work within sporting organizations that align with her passion for soccer, using her education to make a meaningful impact in the sports industry.
A driven and well-rounded athlete, Burvill is also a HYROX competitor, having already completed three races, with plans for many more. She’s a dedicated Tottenham Hotspur and England supporter—and a proud owner of three dogs.
Speaking on the STU women’s soccer program, Burvill highlighted the impression made by the coaching staff.
“Throughout all conversations with the coaching staff, I’ve been very impressed with their knowledge, passion for the game, and commitment to developing players,” she said. “STU is a competitive program, and I can’t wait to be a part of the team.”
Coach David Itoafa added, "Olivia is a smart, passionate player who sees the game well and has the technical quality to unlock space with her passing,"
The Tommies are excited to welcome Olivia Burvill to St. Thomas University and look forward to the intelligence, work rate, and creativity she will bring to the midfield and campus community.
