STU Tommies Add Ontario Post Georgia Johnston Pickwoad to Women's Basketball Program
Fredericton, N.B. – Tommies Women's Basketball team is pleased to announce the commitment of Georgia Johnston Pickwoad for the upcoming season.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Johnston Pickwoad joins the Tommies from Bishop's College School, where she developed into a strong post player known for her competitive spirit.
"I am excited to bring my energy and grit to the program," said Johnston Pickwoad. "I am someone who is highly dedicated and can't wait to bring that commitment and intensity to the program."
Johnston Pickwoad chose STU because it offered the close-knit environment she was looking for both academically and athletically.
"I chose St. Thomas because of its size and reputation," she said. "Having attended a small boarding school, I wanted smaller class sizes and a strong sense of community, which St. Thomas offers. I also appreciate the intensity and level of play the basketball program is known for."
Off the court, Johnston Pickwoad plans to study Psychology and is eager to embrace all aspects of the student-athlete experience.
"I am super excited to join the program and be a member of the team culture," she said. "I can't wait to see myself grow as a basketball player and teammate."
Head Coach Fred Connors is excited to welcome Johnston Pickwoad to the Tommies family.
"We are very excited to add Georgia to the program. She has a great team-first attitude, length, and athleticism and will defend very well in our program. She is keen to learn and has already shown that she is very coachable. Georgia is strong and will be ready to handle the physicality from day one."
The Tommies are excited to welcome Georgia to Fredericton and look forward to watching her contribute to the team's success both on the court and in the classroom.
