Tommies Land Commitment of Talented Islander Brayden Bruce

Fredericton,NB – The St. Thomas University men’s volleyball team is thrilled to announce the commitment of Brayden Bruce from Charlottetown, PEI, for the 2024-2025 season.

Brayden Bruce is one of the most highly touted recruits in Atlantic Canada. He is a three-time recipient of the PEI Player of the Year award (2021, 2022, 2023) and was the youngest member of Team PEI at the 2022 Canada Games Men's Volleyball Team in Niagara, Ontario.

Bruce's excellence is not limited to the volleyball court. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Francis M. McLaughlin Scholarship award, which is given annually to students of outstanding academic ability and achievement entering their first year. His combined athletic and academic achievements make him an exemplary student-athlete.

STU Head Coach Henri Mallet is excited to welcome Bruce to the Tommies family. “A scholar in the classroom and an MVP on the court, you couldn’t ask for a better overall resume for a first-year player. We see Brayden playing a key role at the libero position for years to come as we continue to compete for a National Championship,” said Mallet.

Bruce is equally enthusiastic about joining the Tommies. “I chose STU as it seemed to be the perfect fit. I can’t wait to contribute in any way that I can to the team's success and goals for the upcoming season and beyond,” Bruce shared.
