Tommies on a Mission: Bring the Championship Banner Home
Fredericton, NB - The Tommies are rolling into Halifax with firepower — and something to prove.
The St. Thomas Tommies men’s basketball team closed out the regular season with a 14–4 record, including just one loss on home court. Averaging a league-best 96 points per game and leading the ACAA in three-point percentage, this group has established itself as one of the most explosive offensive units in the league heading into championship weekend.
But momentum will be key.
STU enters the March 6–8 ACAA Championship hosted by Mount Saint Vincent University having gone 2–3 in their last five games. Now, the Tommies must refocus as the stakes rise.
A major storyline this season has been the impact of transfers. Marcus Wilson has brought experience and scoring punch, while Jeven Eddy has emerged as one of the league’s most dominant players. Wilson is averaging 18.5 points per game—third best in the conference—and Eddy has also been a force on the glass, ranking second in rebounds at 8.3 per match.
From the 3-point line, Transfer Ceejay Hanson has stretched opposing defences all season long, sitting third in the league in three-point shooting. Combined with STU’s overall efficiency from deep, the Tommies perimeter attack can change a game in a matter of minutes.
Offensively, they can score with anyone.
For STU, this tournament represents more than a conference title. It’s another opportunity to punch a ticket to nationals and re-establish themselves on the national stage.
The path runs through Halifax.
