The St. Thomas University Tommies topped the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves 65-49 in ACAA women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.
The Tommies jumped to an early lead in the opening frame and held a slim 35-31 lead after 20 minutes.
A lopsided third quarter in favour of the Tommies gave them a 15-point cushion over the Seawolves heading into the fourth. Despite matching the Green and Gold in the final stanza, the Seawolves weren't able to close the gap.
The Tommies won the battle on the boards 42-22 and profited, netting 16 of their 65 points off second-chance opportunities.
The Seawolves were led by Kathryn Magee, who connected for 19 points and three rebounds. Kelsey Simon contributed 12 points and three steals.
With the win, the Tommies improve to 9-8 on the season. The Seawolves drop to 3-16.
